The Treaty for the creation of the Economic Union between the Benelux countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) is signed. The ceremony took place in The Hague, and in his speech, the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, Joseph Bech, acknowledged the contribution of the pioneers in this endeavor, whose initiatives had begun before the end of the war.
