EU leaders and social partners met in Brussels for the Tripartite Social Summit. The main theme of the Social Summit was “Achieving goals related to the building blocks for a successful European economy for workers and businesses”.
Participants addressed the following issues:
a) addressing labor shortages
b) industrial and energy policy for a successful Europe that will provide quality jobs and sustainable growth
c) reaction to the US Inflation Reduction Act and measures for the European economy — the social partners’ perspective
The Tripartite Social Summit is a forum for dialogue between the EU institutions at the presidential level and the European social partners at the highest executive level. The President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission co-chair the Summit.
The participating European social partners include: the Confederation of European Business (BusinessEurope), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the European Centre of Employers and Enterprises providing Public Services and Services of general interest (SGI Europe), the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEunited), the European Confederation of Executives and Managerial Staff (CEC – European Managers), on behalf of the liaison committee between CEC and the Council of European Professional and Managerial Staff (Eurocadres), as the joint representative body for managers in the European social dialogue.
