On 13 and 14 July 2023, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and members of the College of the European Commission participated in the second working meeting with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and other senior UN officials in La Hulpe, Belgium.
The Commission and the UN discussed key challenges and priority areas for joint action, particularly the global consequences of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and other crises, food security and the smooth functioning of supply chains, climate action, energy and biodiversity protection, persistently high humanitarian needs, accelerating the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reform of the international financial architecture, and digital cooperation.
