Visit of Commissioner Janez LenarčIč to Greece Following the Devastating Fires in the Country

Janez Lenarčič, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, visited areas affected by the fires in Greece. In the summer of 2021, both Greece and southern Europe were hit by large fires.
Greece received firefighting support from eleven EU member states (Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Croatia, Cyprus, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, and Croatia), including ground firefighting teams and firefighting planes, in addition to firefighting aircraft from the EU’s own rescEU reserve.
