Visit of Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and Carl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, to Iraq

On August 18, 2014, Kristalina Georgieva, member of the European Commission responsible for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, and Carl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, traveled to Iraq where the escalating conflict has pushed the country into a major humanitarian crisis. They met with authorities, humanitarian organizations, and community leaders to discuss the emergency situation and to express Europe’s solidarity with the victims.
