Visit of Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva to Flood-Stricken Pakistan

Kristalina Georgieva, Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, made a two-day visit on August 24 and 25 to the flood-affected areas in Pakistan, where flooding began on July 29 in the northwestern part of the country. It was the worst disaster Pakistan had faced in decades. The EU Civil Protection Mechanism was activated following a request from the Government of Pakistan to the international community for assistance.
