Hallstein’s Inaugural Speech at the Founding Session of the EEC

During the constituent session, the President of the Commission of the European Economic Community, Walter Hallstein, delivers the inaugural speech.

2017

Premiere of Meetings in the New Europa Building

The first meeting in the new Europa building, which was constructed to house the European Council and the Council of the European Union, takes place on January 16, 2017, when EU Foreign Ministers meet to discuss prospects for the peace process in the Middle East.

1964

European Community Protection Proposals

Dino Del Bo, President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), in a press conference, refers to the two recommendations adopted by the High Authority to better protect the Community’s iron and steel market.

1976

EU Report on the Optimum Currency Area

Experts from the Commission of the European Communities publish a report titled Optica Report 1975, which examined whether the Community could function as an “Optimum Currency Area”.
