Youth Demonstration of the European Movement in Strasbourg

On July 5, 1972, demonstrators from the European Movement marched in front of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg, before the special session of the EP. Their demands were for the organization of European elections through direct and universal suffrage.

Reading of the Weekly Meeting of the Von Der Leyen Commission by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner, on the New European Innovation Agenda

On July 5, 2022, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, held a press conference after the weekly meeting of the von der Leyen Commission in Strasbourg. On this occasion, Mariya Gabriel presented the new European Innovation Agenda, which aims to position Europe at the forefront of the new wave of deep technological innovation and startups.

Press Conference by Frans Timmermans and Virginijus SinkevičIus on the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources

On July 5, 2023, Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the European Green Deal and Commissioner for Climate Action, and Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, held a press conference on the European Commission’s proposals for a more sustainable use of plant and soil natural resources. These proposals will also enhance the resilience of EU food systems and agriculture.

Opening Speeches at the Launch of the European Union Agency for Asylum Support (EASO) Annual Report on the Asylum Situation in the EU

On July 5, 2017, EASO organized the Launch of EASO’s Annual Report on the Asylum Situation in the EU+ 2016, which took place in Brussels. EASO’s Annual Report for 2016 on the Asylum Situation in the EU+ aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the asylum situation in the EU+ (EU member states plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), examining applications for international protection to the EU, analyzing application and decision data, asylum trends, including key challenges and responses during the year, major institutional and legal developments, and providing an overview of the practical operation of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS).
