1961

Signing of Economic Agreement between EEC and Chad

Robert Lemaignen, member of the EEC Commission responsible for Social Affairs, Agriculture, Transport and Overseas Countries and Territories (President of the group), received Adoum Aganaye, Head of the Chad Mission to the European Community. They signed a financial agreement regarding the construction of a technical and vocational training center and the construction and equipment of buildings for public health purposes.

2011

Crisis Platform Meeting on the Situation in Libya

On August 23, 2011, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, chaired a meeting of the crisis platform for Libya in Brussels to analyze the latest on-the-ground developments and coordinate the European response to the crisis. The European Union stated that it is ready to offer prompt assistance to a new Libyan government and called on Libyan Leader Colonel Gaddafi to resign immediately. European funds could be available for financial aid, security maintenance, humanitarian assistance, support for conducting elections, and institution building.
