We tend to remember the European Union on the eve of European elections and/or on the eve of crucial European Councils when we are faced with important economic and political decisions, particularly concerning Greece. The rest of the time, we rather disregard the events unfolding in European decision-making centers, not realizing that the “historic” decisions are followed by and follow many smaller-scale political processes that do not attract public attention. Thus, a partial image of European reality and the wealth of developments that have brought Europe to where it is today is formed in public dialogue.
EU Days aims to highlight the richness of these processes. Literally every day, important decisions are made that affect and influence us all. The process of selecting the events to be presented was difficult and laborious, as it required choosing from a multitude of events across all fields of European Union activity. We tried to maintain a thematic, institutional, and political balance, covering all institutional bodies and extending chronologically throughout the history of the union project. The result obviously does not exhaust the enormous volume of noteworthy events. It has a dynamic dimension, and the database will continue to be enriched in the coming period.
We hope that the material collected will prove useful to journalists covering European Union topics, as well as to all active citizens interested in delving deeper into issues of European integration.
